History of mLab:::

In 1994, Shaun Crutcher started a clothing company infamously named; Forget Mainstream. The company seemed to have a place within the degenerated crowd. Hats, T-shirts and any thing else he could deface turned into a performance-based outerwear clothing company. “Fuck the Mainstream” they shouted. The company had a successful run until its self-destruction expired the label in 1997.

Shaun went to Chicago in 1998, opened a retail store within the walls of Metro. Punk bands, skateboard companies, and other creatives were requesting exclusively designed new ground clothing and other products. Rock ’n’ roll inspiration fused with innovative clothing and a diversified culture for the anti-establishment was the idiom.

History often times repeats itself. After, a very successful fashion/music event in Chicago, the Collective fell apart, due to undisclosed reasons and a fuckin’ idiot, we dubbed “Bolten”. This was unfortunate, because the anti-establishment needed this resource to progress into the future. Elements of business and art went back to the “CRAP” era that destroys independent experimentations.

In 1999, research and development started on a high concept pertaining to artistic development. MethodLaboratories was being developed in a remote space with a code name “macroZine”. [That sounds outrageous but it’s absolutely the truth.]

Moreover, a close friend and executive in crime, Travis joined forces in this exploration of the unknown, which always keeps the concepts original and keen. Therefore, methodLab.com was softly launched in January 2001, after hundreds of hours in ThinkLab sessions; we realized the “tech boom” was over, which caused a sense of relief. Independence was declared and our collective soon became a multi-disciplinary niche portal, which empowers artists to cross-pollinate utilizing multi-channel communication tools. Then, one cold bitter day, a really big “mullet” head, CEO of the 1090 club, A.K.A Pimpalize joined this anti-establishment. He is possibly the most talented “rear-end man” within the art culture. Without his skills methodLab.com would be just another Artistic development website. Thank you… Pimpalize.

MethodLaboratories serves long web cast concerts from some of the best artists in the world. MLab aggregates dynamic content from around the globe, sharing a forward thinking thought process. Our collective exposes some of the most innovative talent to date. We are straight outta the garage and proud of it.

The anti-establishment finally gets a true dose of intellectual experimentation.

So far, this is my story and I am stickin’ with it.
